Matthew Giffin’s multi-faceted career has taken him from the heart of NYC’s art scene to Toronto, creating designs and illustrations for clients as far ranging as theAtlantic Monthly, the Globe and Mail, and the United Nations. He also led the visual design of flagship CBC shows The National, Venture, and CBC Sports. From 2006-2008 he returned New York to work as Art Director for Sir Paul McCartney’s The Space Within Usconcert film/documentary.

Back in Toronto since 2008, he and his partner founded KapowKidz,(formerly Storyvalues)an online educational resource featuring original songs, stories and interactive components. The program has been licensed by the Toronto District School board and (since 2016) has expanded into China.

His first art exhibition in 17 years dexterously synthesizes an exciting and varied career and features dynamic abstract works, meticulously composed. He eschews high-concept effect, reaching out instead for a deeper experience. “I’m interested in getting past that level of thinking to where the process becomes both an observation of - and participation in - how thoughts, dreams, memories and events flow together in unexpected ways to create reality”.
